The Kindergarten classes at East Robertson Elementary school participated in a Christmas Tree STEM Challenge. The students were given toothpicks and spice gumdrops. They had to work together in teams to build a tree that would stand alone. They measured the height of each tree and discussed the different solid shapes made. The students have been studying 3-D shapes in math this semester. These challenges will continue in each grade level for the rest of the year.
